What is TRE?

TRE or Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises is a somatic trauma-releasing practice that helps the body's nervous system self-regulate with more ease.

It was founded by Bioenergetic Therapist and Ph.D. Clinical Social Worker Dr. David Berceli.

Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises or TRE is a set of 7 specific, beginner-friendly postures designed to prepare the body to naturally and effectively release tension, trauma, and stress.

We will start off the workshop with a short introduction to Katie J, a history of TRE, and a check-in for relevant injuries. Then we will begin with the standing exercises that will mildly fatigue and stretch the muscles associated with the stress response.

Katie will demonstrate each exercise and then guide you through each step of it.

After the standing exercises we make our way to the floor for a few more lightly activating exercises. From there, we will have worked your muscles enough to allow your body to produce a neurogenic tremor.

This somatic tremor is the body’s natural healing response to stored stress and trauma. Some people say the tremor looks like an involuntary shaking of the body (usually in the legs or hips), although it can also show up as a bounce, a sway, chills, emotions, twitch, twist, gyration and more.

Is it safe to do TRE while pregnant?

I recommend that you ask your doctor before participating in TRE while pregnant.

Yes, it is safe for children to do TRE.

Who is TRE for?

Because everyone has some sort of trauma or stress, it’s safe to say that most people can benefit from a practice like TRE. Unless you are already blissed out, tapped in, and connected with Source all the time, TRE is for you.

What are the side effects of TRE?

In addition to feelings of peace, acceptance, and trust, people also feel deep relaxation in the body after TRE. Some people notice interesting or vivid dreams after TRE. Others find that they sleep better and are less reactive to triggers because of TRE.

The effects vary from person to person, but in all cases, TRE brings more presence, acceptance, and well-being to those who do it regularly.
